Just been told that the job I interviewed for last week I did not get. I had really hoped that I had done enough to get it. It was between myself and one other person so the odds were definitely good. When it came down to it though it came down to the gut feel of the interviewers, nothing to do with experience. Nothing to do with technical ability. Nothing to do with personality. When it comes down to it was all down to the gut feel of the person who has the final say so. Admittedly I would not even have got as far as first or second interview without the necessary skills and experience, but it just shows what it really comes down to in the end.

If there is anyone out there in the Manchester area who wants a hard working and dedicated IT Manager to work for them please contact me.

Still no news. I think I’m going to explode.

We spent part of the weekend investigating larger houses, but there was always that thought in the back of our minds that it was a futile exercise – we can’t plan for anything, do anything until we know what’s happening.

And so, back in our little house, we’re eating toast and trying to live quietly. We should be so lucky.

Another weekend and we’re having to work out what we can do that’s free.

Stuart had a second interview yesterday, but we don’t know the outcome yet. I’m not prepared to start spending as if he was working again – part of me feels that we’ve not suffered enough yet and fate will keep us dangling on the edge just a little bit longer. So next weekend might be baked beans, but I hope it’s Bolly.

Mind you, one of the benefits of all this has been having to examine who we are and what we want. It’s so easy to just carry on in comfortable jobs doing comfortable things and I wonder if a shock like this is what we needed.

My apologies for the state of the site. We’re still playing with layout but hopefully we’ll have something concrete soon.
